Michael Turnovksy: Born in Prague, since 1968 in Austria. After studying Oboe at the Musikhochschule in Vienna (Prof. J. Schaeftlein) followed a further 5 years study at the Orchesterakademie of the Berliner Philharmoniker with Lothar Koch.
Since 1979, 1st Oboe with the Kaerntner Sinfonieorchester and the Sinfonieorchester Vorarlberg.
Teacher of Oboe at the Konservatorium der Stadt Wien (Vienna Conservatoire) and the Konservatorim in Klagenfurt. Has performed frequently both chamber music and solo concerts in Europe and Japan.
For the last 15 years, through contacts with excellent Oboists (especially in Germany and Scandinavia) I have been intensively engaged in reed-making and have passed on my ideas and experience in numerous reed-making courses.
My hobbies, apart from my family are: good cooking, good wine, horse riding, skiing and my garden. However reed-making is a very time consuming activity so there is not much time left for the above! |
